A Future and a Hope

Musings From The Hub… Phyllis Guthman

As a parent of a child with special needs, I strive to maintain a healthy and balanced well being by keeping the faith.  At times it feels like a mountain to be climbed.

“It’s not the load that breaks you down, it’s the way you carry it.” Lena Horne

“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”  Martin Luther King Jr.

Even in the darkest hours, we know where our hope lies.

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

Regardless of our circumstances, my husband and I agree, that service is a priority for our family, and we always receive more than we give.  Our family motto is “Service Through Legacy Projects”.

“Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.” Robert Louis Stevenson

It’s comforting to serve with like-minded individuals, and I have been blessed to be surrounded by many.  When a friend invited me to participate in a multiple year journey, an opportunity to provide assistance to individuals with disabilities and their families and caregivers, but most importantly offer H.O.P.E., I was on board!

“The great use of life is to spend it for something that will outlast it.” William James
